Doga Evren

Like most of us, Doğa remembers drawing as a child as the starting point of her creativity. Though she’s also done some casual photography and writing, she didn’t commit herself to any particular art form enough to consider it as a career - until she got into ceramics.

Two things about clay pulled her in; how accessible dry-clay was, and how free the process was to make something with it; even when you started with no plans, the clay would take you somewhere.
She still remembers that first plant pot she made. A vulva with an eye as the clitoris was the main feature, which turned into a signature design for her.

What started with a plant pot has now spread to most aspects of Doğa’s life - even her undergrad in film. For one of her projects she is preparing a stop-motion version of the Myth of the Androgynous, all in clay (the myth where 2 humans are born as 1 until Zeus separates them and so the search for our “soulmate” starts. )
