Ottoman Miniature of Leo

Zodiac sign Leo depicted as a traditional Ottoman miniature painting combined with Tezhip; a form of art, historically used to embellish manuscripts - seen here framing the figure.

The artist Gonca Küçüksaraç adds depth to her work by painting on antique paper from the Ottoman Empire. The paper is collected from villages around Turkey, then treated for conservation. We don’t know what it says on the paper but we were told it is from a notebook of a school kid.
